The Frosh/Soph squad gave us a gutsy performance on Saturday at the Valley Tournament. With 20 schools in attendance the team finish tied for 8th place. The placers were Jeremy Wiggs 152-(5th), Peter Paz 125-(3rd), Johnny Mendoza 135-(3rd), and our Runner-up Champ was Anthony Lopez 171-(2nd).
Wrestling well, they managed to get victories early on to propel the team to the top 10 by the end of the first and 2nd rounds. The rest of the squad also got into the act by winning early and helping with the team's success. There is a great deal of promise with this group as the effort and the heart was in full display at this event. Hopefully it will continue.

The very tough Mann Classic Tournament has been added to the schedule. On Dec the 16th & 17th (Fri/Sat) we will go to Cal State Fullerton where El Modena will host this ever growing tourny. Formally held at Santa Ana College, a bigger venue was needed.
The team had a strong 1st day at the Newport/Corona Del Mar Invitational, last Saturday. Despite losing all four Duals, due to a 24 point deficit at every start (forfiets), the wrestlers that participated contributed greatly. Rigo Reynoso and Josh Garcia gave us great efforts on both days of the event. We look to comeback strong at the Mann Classic.

Results From Santa Ana Frosh/Soph!
The team gave a great effort in this tough field of 10 teams. We did not fill a full team and we were giving up 24 point each match. We lost our first match to Valley, by 12. We then gave Western a tough battle and also lost to them by 12 points. The team began to feel the losses and proceeded to have Mission Viejo and Santiago of Corona beat us pretty good. Luckily the night was not totally lost. We concluded with a victory against the Church Boyz from Calvary Chapel. In the running but fell a bit short for a medal was Jeremy Wiggs, who was sporting a new hair cut for the tournament, he and Franklin Ramos combined for a 4-1 record and 4th place. Our tournament placeres where Johnny Mendoza at 130 lbs. and Anthony Lopez at 189 lbs. Both captured 3rd place medals.
